Oklahoma Tenant
Responsibilities
If you’ve found yourself embroiled in a Oklahoma landlord-tenant
dispute, it’s important to know your own rights and
responsibilities under the law. Tenants have a variety
of specific obligations under Oklahoma state law, which
can be negotiated and/or voided from a contract via both
parties’ consent. There are several general tenant
responsibilities which are applicable and incorporated
in most all residential rental contracts. They are, in
no particular, order:
- Pay rent in a timely manner
- Maintain the premises and
prevent damage other than normal wear and tear
- Report
defective conditions to the landlord promptly
- Give written
notice of any breaches of the agreement
- Give written
notice of termination of the lease
- Make a written request
for return of the security deposit
- Return all keys at
the end of the lease
Violations of these responsibilities
can lead to prolonged and financially debilitating legal
battles. Know your rights. Contact an experienced, compassionate
Atkins & Markoff
attorney who is well-versed in Oklahoma landlord/tenant
laws and regulations today, so that you can effectively
and efficiently settle your Oklahoma landlord issues tomorrow.
